Housing Authority Executive Director George Howell Named ‘Public Owner of the Year’

George Howell, executive director of the West Hartford Housing Authority and CEO of Trout Brook Realty Advisors, was honored with the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Connecticut “Public Owner of the Year” award in a ceremony on Oct. 15. The award was presented at the AGC of Connecticut’s Annual Industry Recognition Awards Ceremony. Howell was selected for excellence in leadership and innovation as demonstrated by his achievements and high standing among colleagues, professionals and clients.

As the CEO of Trout Brook Realty Advisors and executive director of the West Hartford Housing Authority, Howell is responsible for managing an independent housing authority with over 600 Housing Choice Vouchers and a non-profit Corporation with 224 market, workforce, family and senior housing units in three residential communities. He is also responsible for the development of a proposed 54-unit mixed-income/mixed use Transit Oriented Development (TOD) multi-family property at the site of a former Pontiac dealership located at 616 New Park Ave. in West Hartford.

The AGC of Connecticut Industry Recognition Awards Dinner program was established in 2005 to recognize the skills, talents and personal qualities that are the source of the striking achievements of prominent Connecticut commercial construction professionals over the course of their careers.

AGC of Connecticut is a statewide construction trade association based in Wethersfield, CT. It is the state chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America. Its membership is comprised of general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors and specialty contractors, and firms that supply and serve the Connecticut commercial construction industry. AGC members build the public and private infrastructure of our state, including colleges, public schools, city halls, fire stations, libraries, civic centers, police stations, roads, bridges and airports and many other commercial construction projects.
